Digital-Video Editing System for Professional-Quality Video Production
Get the features and performance you need for professional-quality video
production on the Macintosh® with the DigitalFilm™ card from SuperMac.
DigitalFilm is the only QuickTime™ video production system that lets you
capture full-screen video and stereo sound to an ordinary Macintosh hard disk
at 30 frames per second and output directly to a videotape recorder at the same
rate.
It’s a complete, on-line digital video editing system — in a single slot. And
it comes with an integrated video-editing application — Adobe Premiere™ 2.0!
DigitalFilm is ideal for corporate communications departments that want to
bring video production in house. It’s the next step in storyboarding for ad
agencies trying to help clients better visualize ad concepts. And it’s a way
for broadcast producers to refine preproduction concepts right on the desktop,
reducing the time and the money ordinarily spent in a professional editing
suite.
REAL-TIME VIDEO CAPTURE
DigitalFilm captures full-motion video and audio to disk at broadcast-video
frame rates: 30 frames per second for NTSC or 25 frames per second for PAL.
What’s more, your recording occurs in real time — while you watch. That means
a minute of video and audio takes just a minute to capture. Simultaneous with
video recording, DigitalFilm automatically digitizes stereo audio input,
synchronizing it to your video.
LARGEST VIDEO WINDOWS
DigitalFilm also shows you more of your movie; it’s NTSC and PAL compatible,
supporting video windows up to 640 x 480 or 768 x 576 pixels in size. And its
S-video compatibility means you can work with higher-resolution source video
for better quality results.
•INTEGRAL TOP-SPEED GRAPHICS
DigitalFilm also features the award-winning technology introduced in SuperMac’s
Thunder ™ line of accelerated graphics products. That means integral
workstation-class, 24-bit accelerated graphics on displays up to 17 inches.
With 17 inches of workspace, you have room to develop full PAL- or NTSC-size
videos, design photorealistic graphics, and see other windows and tools without
adding a second display.
RECORDING OPTIONS FOR PROS
With DigitalFilm’s non-linear random access, you get immediate, independent
access to every frame as you assemble a video production. You also get
direct-to-disk, integrated hardware-accelerated JPEG compression. At 24:1
compression, for example, you get the “visually lossless” quality you need to
record your production to videotape. And for comping ad storyboards or
broadcast video concepts, you can go as high as 50:1. An on-board encoder,
designed to preserve the optimum color integrity of your video, lets you
conveniently record a finished production to videotape.
COMPLETE EDITING SYSTEM
Because it fully supports Apple’s QuickTime standard, DigitalFilm works with
your choice of QuickTime-compatible editing and effects packages and produces
files that can be integrated with animation, graphics, and effects from any
other QuickTime-aware product. The industry’s leading digital-video editing
application, Adobe Premiere 2.0, is also bundled at no additional cost. Adobe
Premiere 2.0 makes it easy to assemble QuickTime productions, select and manage
input from multiple sources, apply professional effects and transitions, and
mix audio. It also produces edit decision lists and provides the SMPTE
time-code support for professional on-line and off-line editing.
FROM DIGITAL VIDEO’S LEADER
Part of a family of award-winning digital-video products from SuperMac,
DigitalFilm delivers the kind of features and quality previously found in
editing systems priced at $80,000 or more. It’s an all-in-one-solution for
the professional in post-production, independent design, and corporate
videomaking at a desktop price.
